Variations of the Card

Similar to the Fool, the fellow on this card is on a journey. However, this guy has definitely got a lot more experience. In preparation for the voyage, he had the wisdom to acquire a vehicle: it makes things a lot easier. The weird card out of the bunch, again, is Surrealist. Surrealist personifies the Chariot, making it into the Slave. This deck’s brutally honest symbolism is endearing because it provokes thought. Sometimes this deck reveals bad behaviour patterns that need to be addressed.

On this card, Langustl kept it simple, as there is only minimal symbolism accompanying the wheel of the Chariot and the pair of hands holding the reins.

Diary‘s version shows the Charioteer up close as if the viewer is sitting backwards on the back of the Chariot’s draft animal. Behind the man, there is the spirit of a wolf, an omnivorous hunter on the prowl.

The Chariot of bifrost is a magic carpet. In reality, though, if you look at the ET, his mind may in fact be the Chariot: the flying saucer behind his vision. This charioteer roams the astral plane in the spirit of victory and/or peace.
